Dr. Lu Deng is a healthcare and life sciences innovator and inventor who thrives in bringing research innovation to clinical application. Lu has over ten years of experience in the field of metabolomics and mass spectrometry. Lu holds both a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a Certificate in Management (CIM) from the University of Alberta. Before joining MTI, Lu worked as a post-doctoral fellow at The Metabolomics Innovation Centre, where she applied her expertise in metabolomics, mass spectrometry, method development and validation to biomarker discovery. Lu received the Mitacs & National Research Council-IRAP Award for Commercialization in 2016 to recognize her outstanding work on developing a clinically scalable urine test for colorectal cancer screening (PolypDx).
Lu joined MTI in 2016 and has grown with the company substantially, having roles spanning from senior scientist, director of business development (Asia) to VP product development. Lu is a continuous learner and is currently enrolled in the Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences program at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, with expected graduation in April 2022.
